Walter Lui was born in Mackay, Queensland in 1972. He currently lives and works in Cairns, Queensland.
Using different media, including linocut and screen printing, drawing/ illustration, carving/engraving, woodburning and painting, Walter creates semi-traditional works that have a particular focus on the Coming of the Light as the ‘starting point’ in the history New Caledonia where he has family cultural connections.
His work has been represented in several group exhibitions and is held in the collections of the State Library of Queensland, Brisbane; National Museum of Australia, Canberra; and Cairns Art Gallery, Queensland.
