Like everything that has passed its use by date, many of the dogs who lived, scrounged, played and romanced in the community ended up on the scrap heap. At one time there was a sign at the Lockhart River tip with the word 'Dogs' and an arrow pointing towards the drop off spot: 'Household Rubbish', 'Metal' and 'Dogs.'
