Kos & Abob, Saaid Saisarem 2017
Long, long ago according to our legend a Kuparam man from Kiwai Island in the Fly River (Dodogab Kusa) visited Mer (Murray island) his name was Saaid also known as Sido at his homeland. Saaid brought some strange exotic garden food plants to Mer and the Meriams accepted him. But soon after he showed his true colours. He first deflowered a virgin named Pekari who liked him, but he left her soon after. He then abducted a widow named Kudar and shrunk her down to fit into his magic basket called Buzil Epei. Saaid hopped into his canoe and started sailing towards Erub (Darnley island). Kudar's two warrior sons Kos and Abob gave chase in their canoes to kill him and save their mother. Kos and Abob seeing the smoke from the fire, sailed around and Abob fired his arrow to kill Saaid, but he made magic and the arrow deflected away. Saaid then flew to Ugar (Stephen island). The brothers chased him there and wounded him at a place called Mamered meaning where blood was spilt. This time Saaid directed a more powerful magic and turned the two brothers into two prism shaped stones at Ugar. He then flew to Kiwai Island to his wife Sagaro and died there.
