The Cairns Art Gallery Foundation is the principal fundraising body supporting the development of the Gallery’s Permanent Collection. Established in 2000, the Foundation raises funds to acquire significant artworks, with a focus on artists from Far North Queensland and the broader Australian and Indigenous art community.
By investing in culturally important works, the Foundation helps to grow a regionally relevant collection that reflects the diversity, heritage and creative strength of Far North Queensland. Since its inception, the Foundation has contributed more than $840,000 towards the purchase of 79 works by 28 artists.
The Foundation also plays a role in strengthening the Gallery’s national profile and supporting artists at various stages of their careers through the strategic growth of the Collection.
