One of Australia's leading contemporary artists, Danie Mellor will talk about the major work that he has been commissioned to produce for the Gallery's Permanent Collection.
Danie Mellor was born in 1971 in Mackay, Queensland. He studied at North Adelaide School of Art, Australian National University, and Birmingham Institute of Art and Design before lecturing at Sydney College of the Arts. Mellor has won numerous awards and his work has been exhibited widely both nationally and internationally. He is represented in all major Australian public galleries and numerous private collections and his exhibitions regularly are sold-out. Mellor is considered a major contemporary Australian artist whose work explores the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian cultures that has earned him “an important place in the visual narrative of Australian history”.
