On The Lawn and Live

Celebrate the opening of 5 Queensland First Nations exhibitions as Cairns Art Gallery comes alive on the lawn!

Gather your friends and join us on the Cairns Art Gallery Mulgrave lawn for an exciting evening of art exhibitions, live music, food, drink and special guests. Discover our arts trail between our three Heritage Listed buildings, the Public Curators Building, Court House Building and Mulgrave Building, as all three venues open late for you to peruse at your leisure.

Marvel at five remarkable art exhibitions by Queensland First Nations Artists across the three buildings:

Brush: Women Painters
Philomena Yeatman: Babim, Muudjum, Djanguul
Sam Harrison: Kin’O’Centrism
Spirits In The Ink
Woven Together: Undivided We Rise

Out on the lawn you can dance the evening away to Mualgal/Waray/Wulli Wulli/Yiman artist DJ Eyeaam on the decks. Then Broden Tyrell Band, a six-piece powerhouse, will deliver an epic performance full of depth, energy and soul.

We are honoured to welcome Professor Henrietta Fourmile-Marrie AM (Gimuy Walubara Yidinji) to deliver a Welcome to Country.

The evening’s program of live entertainment will be MC-ed by Talicia Minniecon, a Kabi Kabi & Gooreng Gooreng, Kemer Kemer Meriam & Maluilgal woman, who is the founder of Mob Made Media & Communications – a matriarch-led media company committed to amplifying voices and empowering communities.

Food and beverages will be available to purchase on the evening from vendors including Audrey Vintage Bar and the precinct will be brought to life by inflatable artworks by Gunggandji artist Michelle Yeatman.RSVP is appreciated.
